Alyssa Geracie is a tax partner in our state and local tax (SALT) group, a practice within Baker Tilly’s specialty tax team. As an accomplished professional, Alyssa has over 13 years’ experience, during which time she gained extensive specialization with multistate taxation including income, sales and use, gross receipts, franchise/excise, business, net worth and property taxes. Alyssa helps interpret complex state and local tax laws, analyze state tax blind spots and locate state tax opportunities. She is also highly trained on state and local tax aspects that arise from M&A transactions. She uses this set of expertise to develop optimal strategies to maximize value and minimize risk for her clients.
- Assists companies in optimizing their SALT costs by developing and implementing multistate tax reduction strategies including nexus reviews, entity restructuring, apportionment studies, credit and incentive analyses and refund reviews
- Aids pass-through entities with understanding entity level and partner/shareholder level state tax filing requirements and optimizing their federal and state savings by implementing pass-through entity elections
- Provides dispute resolution services such as audit defense, appeal representation, ruling requests, tax delinquency settlements and voluntary disclosures
- Offers state tax compliance solutions including return preparation, tax outsourcing, tax software consulting/implementation and other options for clients
- Assists taxpayers with buy-side and sell-side state tax due diligence to identify unresolved state tax risk and develop tax planning strategies to structure or mitigate identified tax concern
- Communicates regularly with taxpayers to share relevant industry developments and to keep current on potential business and operational changes that may impact their tax positions
- Implements personal property tax compliance strategies for states throughout the country
- Serves clients from varying industries including manufacturing, technology, construction, insurance, online e-commerce, professional business services, private equity firms and portfolio companies
