
Greg Seerveld is a principal with Baker Tilly’s financial services practice. He has more than 20 years of experience serving a wide range of public and private banking capital marketing clients, including community and commercial banks and depository institutions, clearing and introducing broker dealers, alternative, specialty and asset-based lenders, mortgage lenders and FinTech enterprises. Greg serves as a subject matter specialist for several of the firm’s initiatives including its digital asset audit approach and its broker dealer audit practice.
Prior to joining Baker Tilly, Greg served as a partner at a Big Four firm where he was the signing partner on several audits, acted as the SEC-concurring partner on several public engagements and completed a rotation in that firm’s national office where he implemented several technical accounting and audit quality initiatives nationally.
- Technical liaison with respect to various accounting and auditing matters, including the impact assessment, adoption and implementation of new accounting standards, compliance programs related to increased and/or changing regulatory requirements and the execution of new auditing rules
- Specializes in providing regular, transparent communication with the C-suite and board of directors/audit committees, including discussion of audit plans and findings, risk assessments, internal control over financial reporting metrics and conclusions, the accounting and operational complexities of potential and/or actual transactions, regulatory change and new standard setting with a demonstrated ability to simplify complex matters for broader consumption through various media
- Successfully guided clients through complex business combinations, initial public offerings, divestitures, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)/Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) transformations, financial instrument and goodwill impairments, business and tax restructurings and back/front office transformations
- Developed and executed against engagement-specific key performance indicators (KPIs) which reduced audit cycles times and resulted in more cost-effective leverage models driving improved engagement economics and high customer satisfaction
- Leads by example in driving an inclusive workplace that fosters accountability, constructive challenge and professional growth
