John Heyde is the fund administration practice leader at Baker Tilly. With more than 20 years’ experience in the financial services industry, John leads the Baker Tilly private equity fund services platform (“PEFS”). He is responsible for the performance, growth, and strategic development of the PEFS practice. John has deep expertise within the alternative investments and real estate industry. His specialties include financial reporting, fund accounting, investor relations, internal control compliance and certification, the development of carried interest waterfall models and other complex fee calculations, and the implementation of private equity back-office best practices.
- Leader of a funds management group for an investment services company, overseeing a team of accounting professionals who were responsible for the financial reporting and investor relations of a multibillion dollar real estate development client
- Instrumental in building out the fund administration platform for an investment services company, establishing best practices, policies and procedures which led to obtaining a SOC I Type 2 certification under SSAE 18
- Led and managed multiple private equity client relationships throughout his career, collectively totaling more than five billion dollars in committed capital
- Responsible for final review of quarterly and annual U.S. GAAP financial statements, including master-feeder structures, blocker corporations, parallel and co-investment vehicles, SPV entities and management companies
- Compiled and reviewed multibillion dollar real estate fund financial statements on a quarterly basis while always meeting or exceeding deadlines
- Led firmwide training on the equity and fair value method of investment company accounting, as well as various footnote disclosures including ASC 820 and ASC 946
