
Kris is a director with Baker Tilly’s healthcare practice, with a focus on clinical reimbursement, quality and compliance services. He has over 25 years of experience in the long-term care industry. Kris has worked as a certified nursing assistant (CNA), charge nurse, nursing supervisor, clinical support nurse and as a minimum data set (MDS) coordinator, giving him a broad scope of insight into the internal functioning of the nursing department in a skilled nursing facility. His experience includes MDS management and department operations, Medicare PPS compliance, Medicaid case mix index optimization for multiple states, five‐star rating optimization, value‐based purchasing, SNF quality reporting program, ICD‐10 diagnostic coding and quality measure management and optimization for CMS five star and state specific quality incentive programs.
Kris provides MDS related trainings and education for registered nurse assessment coordinators (RNACs) and other members of the interdisciplinary team, in addition to education and trainings focused on documentation compliance, care planning, Medicare and various state Medicaid reimbursement systems, and other topics. His knowledge of state and federal regulations has enabled him to provide support throughout the survey process, and Kris has worked extensively in the development of best practices in managing the patient driven payment model (PDPM).
