
Matthew is a director with Baker Tilly’s risk advisory practice. He is a seasoned director with a focus on financial services, bringing more than 15 years of experience in internal audit. Matt specializes in banking internal audit, specifically for operational processes for banks ranging from $500 million in assets to more than $50 billion in assets. His background allows him to deliver tailored solutions that address unique challenges faced by banks in today’s dynamic environment.
- Overall client engagement from being the single point of contact to managing the engagement for all services. This includes reporting to the audit committee, project management and monthly status calls with the audit contact
- Provides internal audit services for financial service clients, including development of the risk assessment and audit plan
- Areas of experience include, Automated Clearing House (ACH), wire transfers, lending, model risk management, enterprise risk management, corporate governance, asset liability management and liquidity
- Aids clients in Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation Improvement Act (FDICIA) implementation, including meeting with management and discussing/identifying the key controls for their areas
- Developed and delivered narratives and key control matrices to clients
- Experience with testing and reporting SOX and FDICIA controls including reporting results to appropriate management and committees
- Knowledgeable of the new Global Institute of Internal Audit Standards as well as experience with performing quality assurance reviews on audit departments against those standards
