
Matthew O’Rourke is a principal with Baker Tilly's New York assurance practice. Matt has more than 15 years of experience in accounting and auditing for both public and privately held companies including U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reporting requirements.
He serves as the firm’s asset management professional practice liaison, which includes responsibility and oversight over technical and general assurance matters impacting the firm’s asset management practice.
- Significant experience includes investment companies and alternative asset funds, registered investment advisers, both carrying and non-carrying broker-dealers and related financial service entities
- Experience includes developing audit approaches for entities with complex capital structures and as well as developing testing approaches over Level 3 investments under ASC 820 fair-value measurements
- Speaker, providing in-house technical training seminars and continuing professional education to internal staff on various accounting and auditing matters
- Involved in firmwide development of asset management and broker-dealer audit templates and training material
