Ryan Smith is a tax director in our transfer pricing group, a practice within Baker Tilly’s specialty tax team. Ryan has more than 10 years of transfer pricing experience with large, respected public accounting firms. Throughout his career he has served global clients in many industries, including but not limited to mobility and transportation, chemicals, life sciences, consumer products, furniture, software and plastics and foam industries.
- Experienced in a variety of transfer pricing areas including global transfer pricing documentation, strategic supply chain planning and implementation of efficient tax operating models, assistance with implementation of transfer pricing systems as well as integration of acquired businesses.
- Works closely with clients on implementing transfer pricing policies and developing solutions to monitor its transfer pricing results more effectively; advanced pricing agreements and IRS (and global) controversy cases; intercompany financing analyses; as well as intangible property and global services alignment strategies.
- Ryan also works on ASC 740 tax provision reviews to identify areas of transfer pricing risk that may impact clients’ tax accounting positions. This involves helping Baker Tilly’s audit teams and clients collectively understand their key transfer pricing positions, how they are accounted for, as well as providing guidance to clients regarding proactive risk-mitigation strategies post review.
