
Victor Costigliola is a principal with Baker Tilly’s real estate and construction practice. With more than 10 years of experience in real estate tax planning, deal structuring, tax accounting and partnership taxation. At Baker Tilly, he is involved with different facets of real estate including acquisitions, financing, debt restructurings and modifications, 1031 exchanges, cost segregation studies and other transactions and planning on behalf of prominent real estate developers, contractors, investors, property managers, nursing homeowners and operators, and other diverse businesses.
- Provides tax consulting and compliance services to closely held businesses in various industries including real estate, construction and healthcare
- Provides real estate tax consulting including acquisitions, dispositions, Section 1031/1033 exchanges, cost segregations, cancellation of debt, debt financed distribution structuring, installment sales and disguised sales
- Reviews partnership agreements to identify and resolve profit and loss allocation matters, review targeted capital allocations and other special allocations
- Consults on transactions which include 704(c) built in gain allocations and basis adjustments (Section 734(b) and 743(b))
- Consults regarding holding real property for various purposes including held for sale, acquired by the taxpayer for resale purposes pursuant to Section 263(A), operating and held for investment
- Consults on deductibility verses capitalization matters relating to amounts paid to improve tangible property (Section 263(a) and 162(a))
- Consults regarding the application of partial asset dispositions relating to tangible property
- Prepares for and present during monthly real estate practice roundtable discussions
- Reviews partnership and individual tax returns and representing clients before the IRS and state tax authorities
- Provides consulting and compliance for annual foreign filing matters (FBARs, Form 5472, Form 1042s and Forms 8804/8805)
- Provides consulting tax services and tax planning for high-net-worth individuals and family businesses
