M&A activity in New England remains steady
The New England M&A market remained stable throughout 2021, with clear signs of growth occurring in the second half as deal activity returned to pre-pandemic levels with 63 closed transactions.
In H2 2021, deal value reached $11.6 billion, a slight decline from the $12.0 billion in H1 2021 but still exceeding the $10.0 billion in H2 2020 with a 16% YOY.

Information technology drives M&A activity
The information technology industry was the most active during the second half of 2021, accounting for 35% of the transactions closed. The healthcare and financials segments accounted for the second and third largest categories for the period with 22% and 11% of transaction volume, respectively.
