
Eric is a principal with Baker Tilly’s financial services practice. He joined the firm in 2012 and specializes in performing audits of insurance companies and consulting for insurance organizations nationally. He has experience with organizations of varying size and complexity, given his cumulative experience with a regional insurance accounting firm and with Baker Tilly's insurance practice.
Eric has more than 20 years of public accounting experience and has been a principal with Baker Tilly since 2022.
- Supervises audits and reviews of insurance companies including property and casualty and health insurance organizations (domestic and international clientele)
- Integrated into consulting and internal audit practice with insurance organizations in the Midwest and risk-based examinations on behalf of state regulators
- Effectively communicates with board of directors and audit committees about upcoming standard changes that affect their entity, audit results and issues identified during the audit
- Prepares and reviews all client deliverables including the audited financial statements and provides financial analysis
- Teaches continuing professional education (CPE) for generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP) differences and trains new staff on how to perform audits of insurance companies and employee benefit plans
- Assists in all aspects of audits; planning audits, leading planning meetings, conducting the conclusion and wrap-up of audits and working closely with clients to ensure all required disclosures were made and properly documented
- Designs and teaches trainings on audit efficiencies, new standards or pronouncements and their effects on audits, and using paperless audit software
