Our journey
Honoring our roots. Shaping our future.
Our firm was born in 1931 in Waterloo, Wisconsin, at the height of the Great Depression. Ed Virchow started our business by providing audits to the Midwestern canning companies that helped feed our nation.
Since then, we have combined with more than 50 different firms, growing our presence coast to coast and internationally.
Our journey has taken us from a local to a regional to a global firm — building on our culture of passion, innovation and collaboration and always searching for the next best way to work, serve and connect.

Throughout the year, we keep ethics front of mind with top-notch training, including annual independence compliance and automated investment monitoring, an ethics training road map, access to an ethics hotline and a code of ethics that guides us every day.
Independence training
Annually, we require all practitioners to confirm their independence by completing a questionnaire and training.
Ethics training
With short videos, articles and training, our ethics training roadmap covers ethical decision-making, business ethics, professional conduct, corporate social responsibility and more. The experience is designed to help our team members think about the "why" behind decision-making and ethical responsibility.
