Matt is a principal with Baker Tilly who joined our firm in 2008. Matt specializes in the financial services industry with an emphasis in banking and capital markets. He serves clients including community financial institutions (private and public); guaranty agencies; collection agencies; nonregistered partnerships; hedge and venture capital funds; investment advisors and finance companies.
- Plans, coordinates and executes audit, review and agreed-upon procedures engagements for public (including accelerated filers) and privately-held companies within the financial services industry.
- Advises audit committees and boards of directors about a variety of complex accounting and operational issues.
- Experience in developing and coordinating the initial audits of numerous financial institutions and non-registered partnerships.
- Plans, performs and implements projects related to Section 404 of the Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX) and Section 112 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation Improvement Act (FDICIA) including assessing control deficiencies and weaknesses and effectively communicating them to management.
- Verifies firms’ compliance with the Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS).
- Performs examination engagements in accordance with the SEC Custody Rule.
- Experience in auditing fair value assumptions in accordance with ASC 820.
- Led service team to assist a financial services company through an initial public offering, including registration statement filings.
- Prepares and presents trainings (internal and external) on various accounting, auditing and operational topics within the financial services industry.
