
Michael is a principal with Baker Tilly’s tax services practice. He is a tax principal, federal tax generalist with an emphasis on publicly traded, middle market, multinational technology and life science companies. Michael spent his early career with a Big Four firm, co-founded the Silicon Valley tax practice for a tax consultancy firm, served on its board, and built a culture of responsiveness to clients, solid technical advice, and thorough solutions that leave no stone unturned. Quickly and proactively, he and his team show clients their options, develop a plan and help implement it. Michael is now a senior tax leader for Baker Tilly's Santa Clara, Bay Area-based team.
- Develops and leads corporate tax engagements on an outsourced, co-sourced and in alignment with assurance teams to ensure compliance with tax laws and verify the accuracy of tax payments
- Specializes in consulting on accounting standards codification (ASC) 740 – accounting for income taxes, including business combinations, domestic and cross border mergers and acquisitions, international tax, foreign tax credit and cash repatriation planning and U.S. federal tax accounting methods
- Leads technical training and seminars for tax and accounting professionals - topics include accounting for income taxes, accounting for business combinations, accounting for stock based compensation, international taxation, mergers and acquisitions and more
