Rebekah Martin, principal in the higher education/not-for-profit group of Baker Tilly, has been with the firm since 2005. Rebekah specializes in performing financial statement and compliance audits for higher education institutions and other not-for-profit organizations.
- Partner-in-charge on financial statement audits for colleges and universities and not-for-profit organizations
- Partner-in-charge on audits of government programs of federal and state awards received by colleges and universities and not-for-profit organizations
- Performs agreed-upon procedures and reviews engagements for private colleges, universities and not-for-profit organizations
- Manages benchmarking ratio projects for more than 100 private colleges and universities
- Performs operating and efficiency reviews for organizations, including internal control reviews and sustainability analyses
- Assists with implementation of new accounting standards
- Assists with financial statement preparation
- Provides accounting assistance, including accounting for alternative investments and endowment funds
- Develops and delivers trainings for private colleges and universities and not-for-profit organizations
- Builds tools and templates for our audit teams and clients to use when implementing new accounting standards or looking to improve internal controls
- Serves on the development team for the Baker Tilly Higher Education Data Analytics tool
- Performs quality reviews as part of Baker Tilly’s internal review process
- Performs technical consultations for higher education audit teams, including researching and providing relevant guidance on technical matters
- Serves as the firm’s Professional Practice Leader for higher education and services on the technical committee for single audits
