Sam Evans is an assurance principal at Baker Tilly. He has more than 15 years of experience in accounting, with roles in both public accounting and industry. During his time in public accounting, Sam worked in a Big Four’s Atlanta assurance practice, before transitioning to his current role with Baker Tilly. His areas of experience include financial statement audits, reviews, compilations, internal audit, technical accounting consultations and interim controller/CFO duties. He has served both publicly traded and privately held companies.
Historically, Sam served in the director of accounting role for a large publicly traded retailer, with approximately 600 stores across the chain. His time in industry provides for a unique perspective in his role as a client serving principal, understanding the competing commitments his clients face while also executing on a financial statement audit.
Sam was also responsible for leading significant ASC 606 revenue and ASC 842 Leases implementation and adoption engagements for large publicly traded companies. Successful execution on these engagements required project management subject to strict internal deadlines dictated by external audit requirements.
Sam currently serves as the lead engagement principal for various not-for-profit organizations, certain of which are subject to single audit requirements and government auditing standards.
