Scott has more than 30 years of experience and is a member of Baker Tilly’s tax leadership team. Scott provides tax services to a broad range of clients. He works closely with his clients in evaluating, planning and structuring transactions, acquisitions and divestitures. Scott has worked with private equity firms and consulted on several industry consolidation plays.
- Mergers and acquisitions consulting and planning, including tax due diligence and deal structuring for strategic and institutional buyers and sellers
- Works with closely held businesses and institutionally held companies, providing tax planning and consultation for the entities, as well as the owners
- Structuring investment in high-growth entrepreneurial entities, including planning and implementing tax attribute and tax minimization strategies
- Reviewing corporate, partnership and individual tax returns and representing clients before the internal revenue service and state tax authorities
- Consults with clients on various aspects of their businesses, including accounting methods, corporate and partnership structuring, compensation-related matters (including equity-based compensation), tax credits, and state and local taxes
- Assists companies going through corporate reorganizations and conversions, including planning regarding conversions to S corporation status and conversions to and from partnership or corporate solutions
- Assists with ASC 740 (formerly FAS 109 and FIN 48) analysis and consultation
- Previously served as a tax partner at an international firm
