As Baker Tilly’s chief of staff and advisor to the CEO, Shanté George is responsible for helping drive organizational transformation, advancing enterprise initiatives and working closely with the senior leadership team on strategy execution. Shanté is also the chair of the environmental, social and governance (ESG) steering committee. In this position, she will further enhance the overall ESG strategy and formalize the firm’s internal approach to sustainability.
Previously, Shanté was a principal in Baker Tilly’s restructuring and complex litigation services practice. She joined Baker Tilly in 2016 and has more than 15 years of experience advising constituents in the areas of financial and operational restructuring, forensic investigations and transactional due diligence. Her experience includes leading teams in the development and implementation of strategy, assessing strategic and financial feasibility and developing business plans and comprehensive financial models for sustainable growth.
Prior to joining Baker Tilly, Shanté was a senior vice president in the corporate recovery and litigation services practice in an independent, employee-owned financial services firm in New York.
- Managed several buy-side due diligence engagements involving analyzing the quality of earnings, challenging business plans, assessing the sufficiency of internal controls, identifying and assessing the impact of potential synergies
- Served as a financial advisor to numerous unsecured creditors’ committees, secured lenders, and other creditors in connection with the bankruptcy filings of Tousa, Inc. Gracious Homes, Reader’s Digest, Jackson Hewitt, Bachrach Clothing, and Mervyn’s Holdings, LLC
- Provided strategic planning, crisis management, and other financial advisory services in connection with in and out-of-court proceedings involving companies in financial distress including, National Air Cargo, Inc. and Harvey Electronics
- Retained prepetition as financial advisor to the governance committee of Caesars Entertainment Operating Company (“CEOC”), Inc.’s Board of Directors. Led work stream responsible for analyzing liquidity, asset dispositions and closures, and the impact of certain financing transactions on the financial condition of CEOC

- Selected as financial advisor to the unsecured creditors committee, and subsequently the Chapter 11 trustee of FKF 3, a $60 million real estate investment vehicle. Provided testimony at trial, resulting in a favorable judgment
- Investigated potential causes of action as financial advisor to the disinterested directors of the Seadrill Limited Board of Directors; responsible for the review, analysis and sensitivity testing of financial projections; the assessment of the Debtors’ historical financial condition; and a review of market commentary to assess capital adequacy
- Led discovery and investigative work stream and assisted in the preparation of the report of Judge Arthur J. Gonzalez (retired), former chief judge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, SDNY, in his role as court-appointed examiner in the Residential Capital, LLC (ResCap) Chapter 11 case
- Performed detailed analyses of projections and assessment of solvency and the evolution of the Debtor’s corporate strategy as financial advisor to a group of major international lenders in connection with a complex fraudulent conveyance matter involving Mirant Corporation, a $7 billion international power producer in the U.S.
