Aug 02, 2017 · Authored by Nataly Cherepansky, Jimmy Edmundson, Matt Yates
Three Topics: State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement, Federal Cybersecurity Regulations, and Compliance Programs

- Panelist will provide an overview of SARA and key challenges, as well as steps and tips to be compliant
- Key compliance areas that govern cybersecurity safeguards including Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) rule 202.252-7012 for protecting Defense Department data related to contracts and grants and Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) for safeguarding student data related to student financial aid programs
- Panelist will discuss DFARS and GLBA requirements for higher education institutions
- Panelist will provide higher education scenarios for successful collaboration practices between internal audit and compliance for an effective compliance program
