Government contractors rely on efficient, compliant systems to maintain their competitiveness in the federal marketplace. Deltek’s Costpoint 8.2, released in June 2023 and consistently updated since, is a notable evolution in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions designed for the government contracting sector. And for government contractors still operating on older versions—it’s time to get current. Below are some recent updates in the evolution of Costpoint. They make the case for Costpoint clients to accelerate their upgrade plans to take advantage of the latest features and ensure continued support.
Deltek has introduced several enhancements in the latest versions of Costpoint, focusing on improving user experience, expanding accessibility, and integrating advanced technologies. Some (but not all) notable updates include:

New release includes opt-in features that allow customers to adopt new functionalities at their own pace.

Users can now enter, submit, and approve timesheets directly within email reminders, streamlining the timekeeping process.

The Costpoint MS Teams app allows users to enter and approve time, as well as interact with Ask Dela, Costpoint’s AI-powered digital assistant, directly within Microsoft Teams.

Updates to the mobile app have improved user experience, offering features like offline time entry and support for proxy and search functionality.

Targeted, relevant product information is now provided within the application to help users adopt new features.

A simplified navigation system and customizable welcome screen have been introduced to help users quickly access necessary tasks.

Increased use of AI and ICR enables businesses to work smarter and make better decisions.
Access to secure project data has been enhanced by expanding access to other roles beyond the Project Manager.
Regulatory updates, particularly for payroll and federal tax reporting, make upgrading essential. Additionally, upgraded intelligent character recognition (ICR) features for account payable (AP) invoices can help ensure accurate financial data, aiding in compliance and informed decision-making. Non-compliance, of course, can lead to penalties and financial and operational risks.
The latest version of Costpoint introduces several features to improve operational efficiency. Expanded interactive email functionality allows users to submit and approve timesheets directly via email, streamlining an everyday task. Additionally, the newer Costpoint AI Assistant, Dela, leverages generative AI to provide quick answers to questions about contracts and projects, bypassing the need to navigate multiple domains. Among others, these enhancements enable contractors to automate repetitive tasks, optimize resource allocation, and focus on delivering successful projects.
With Deltek’s quarterly release methodology, firms can take advantage of frequent updates. Upgrading Costpoint ensures continued support, compatibility with new features and integration with evolving government compliance requirements.
With critical updates addressing compliance, security and usability, now is the time for government contractors to transition to the latest version and take advantage of the latest enhancements.
