Client need
Miesfeld’s (Miesfeld’s or the Company) started out as a small butcher shop in Sheboygan, Wisconsin nearly 80 years ago. Today, the third-generation family business has grown into an extensive meat company with more than 35 employees serving customers across southeastern Wisconsin. The Company makes more than 80 products and is well known for its brats, bacon, ham, Snack Sticks and sausages.
Chuck Miesfeld, president of Miesfeld’s, was seeking a partner to preserve the Company’s legacy for future generations, and one with deep roots within the Sheboygan community. He ultimately partnered with the Richard Sachse family.
Miesfeld’s has been a long-term client of Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP, so when Chuck needed assistance with a potential transaction, he was introduced to the Baker Tilly Capital team.
Baker Tilly Capital solution
The investment banking team at Baker Tilly Capital worked closely with Chuck and his attorney on the final steps of the transaction process, which included negotiating and finalizing the letter of intent, purchase agreement and other legal documents.
Results
In the end, the transaction closed in an efficient manner on September 30th, with the transition officially commencing on October 1st. For Chuck, working with the Sachse family not only accomplishes his goal of finding the right partner to help grow the Company into the future, but it also preserves the legacy of the company his grandfather started in 1941.
Chuck will continue to focus on customer efforts and new product development, while Rich and the Sachse family will lead and manage the administrative side of the business.
Chuck Miesfeld, president – Miesfeld’s Market"When I met the Sachse family about a potential partnership, I knew they were right for the future of Miesfeld’s. Baker Tilly Capital’s team understood the goals I had moving forward for the Company and helped facilitate a smooth process. I believe the partnership with the Sachse family is a sure recipe for success.”
