Recent developments in investigations: what we’ve learned from a year of remote investigations and implications for the future
Feb 24, 2021 · Authored by
Conducting an effective and thorough investigation into alleged wrongdoing has always been a hallmark of an effective compliance program. Unfortunately, many of the investigations fail to achieve their intended results, especially when the investigations are handled remotely via videoconferencing. Due to decreasing budgets and efficiencies, it appears remote investigations will continue when we are able to return to work and travel. This session addresses common pitfalls to avoid when conducting an internal investigation.
The presenters highlight many of the shortcomings in an investigation and offer practical suggestions for addressing issues around bias, privilege, confidentiality/privacy and reporting back to the complainant. This on-demand webinar covers several areas, including:
- Applying new and additional investigative techniques to investigations, both remote and in-person
- Determining and documenting the root cause of the issue
- Understanding and overcoming common issues associated with investigations
