
Cory Wendt is a principal with Baker Tilly’s development and community advisory practice, and the firm’s manufacturing industry practice leader. He provides operational and project development consulting support to clients in energy, industrial and food process manufacturing environments. Leveraging more than 15 years of relevant experience, he helps clients manage financial analytics, optimize the supply chain, and achieve comprehensive project development for large capital expenditures.
Prior to joining Baker Tilly, Cory served as vice president of corporate development for a privately held renewable energy company where he was responsible for capital sourcing, project development and transfer of technology to strategic partners. He started his career as an analyst for the Chicago-based private equity firm McNally Ventures.
- Advanced analytics and financial modeling: Use of statistical scenario modeling and data visualization to support the business case for the prospective expenditures being considered by the company’s ownership, board and/or funding parties
- Supply chain optimization: Identification of system-wide cost savings via a new strategic siting effort, restructuring of the existing manufacturing operation environment and/or creation of a new product mix to enhance performance at a given plant and support new capital investment
- Project development: Project management from ideation to delivery with the executive stakeholders (finance, operations, accounting, engineering), overseeing the project development process and interaction of all key stakeholders among developers, lenders and the owners’ engineering teams
- Manages rollout of emerging or existing products, services or technologies with a comprehensive go-to-market strategy
- Develops offering materials and financial due diligence support with an emphasis on optimal deal structure and business valuation analysis
- Identifies capital needs and assists with sourcing of debt, equity and state or federal grant funding
