A recipe for success: IFS implementation in the cookware industry
In the highly competitive manufacturing industry, efficiency and precision are paramount. Implementing an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system can help manufacturers operate smoothly to drive both productivity and growth. A global cookware manufacturer sought a new ERP system and enlisted Baker Tilly to lead the selection process. After guiding them through the process, IFS emerged as the top choice, with Baker Tilly continuing its engagement through the IFS implementation to provide program management and project oversight. As part of this engagement, we also provided organizational change management, which was key to driving ownership and adoption of the new system. Post-implementation, we continued to support the client, optimizing and improving their IFS system.
Digging deep: Transforming mining with ERP and data best practices
In a project for a complex mining organization, Baker Tilly provided a comprehensive engagement to address the client's unique challenges. The mining company conducted a rigorous search for the best ERP solution and assessed implementation partners capable of delivering transformation capabilities alongside IFS Cloud proficiency. Baker Tilly assembled a digital team to understand the client’s challenges and recommended an approach that aligned with their business objectives. The client chose Baker Tilly primarily for the firm's extensive digital capabilities. However, the most critical element was an implementation approach that drives standardization with leading practices across their business processes. The client's systems landscape included various legacy ERP solutions, multiple instances of IFS Applications versions, another legacy product, other packaged software applications and custom-developed tools from numerous business acquisitions. Each mine operates largely independently, resulting in significant variations in processes and data. While an IFS Cloud upgrade was considered, Baker Tilly advised that re-implementation was necessary to enable process transformation and data standardization. This approach aligned with the client's business value and investment goals. Key solution requirements included a hosted cloud solution to serve core business needs, provide advanced asset management capabilities, simplify the system landscape to reduce business risk, enable scalability for future acquisitions and support ongoing process improvements.
Baker Tilly worked to overhaul the client's fragmented ERP landscape. Baker Tilly introduced broader digital capabilities, recognizing the client's desire to transform their business through data-driven decision-making and eventually leverage advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI). Baker Tilly assisted with the IFS implementation, program management oversight and data governance advisory services. The team is now helping with data extraction, cleaning, migration and integration as a precursor to creating dashboards using PowerBI to visualize data and insights from IFS. Organizational change management is again a critical factor. The success of this project is building a replicable framework that Baker Tilly can bring to any organization looking to transform its business into a data-driven organization.
